At the Welcome Hall you can be sure of a warm welcome whatever your age or background. Our church is built of people who are deeply conscious of what God has done for us, and our desire is to give glory to God by showing the same love to others.
We are an independent Evangelical Church located in Catshill, a village just outside of Bromsgrove in Worcestershire, near Birmingham.
Everything we do at the Welcome Hall is centred on Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Every member of the church has come to know Jesus personally, and to love Him as Saviour. Through the Bible, God has impressed on us that we deserve eternal judgement because of our individual failure to keep His good commandments. Yet the Gospels teach us that God has accepted the death of Jesus on the cross outside Jerusalem nearly 2000 years ago as full payment for the sins of everyone who believes in Him. More than this, Scripture reveals that just as Jesus rose again, so each one who loves Jesus will, at the end of time, be given a new body and a place in His new world where we will enjoy the presence of God forever.
Since Jesus has done all this for us, we now make it our aim to please Him by living in obedience to His commandments by the power that He grants to each of us in His grace.
The Bible is the source of everything we believe and teach at the Welcome Hall. We believe that every word of the Bible as recorded in the original manuscripts is “God breathed”, so that when we read the Bible we are reading the very words of God Himself.
We aim to shape everything we do by the Bible. As a result, we place a great deal of emphasis in our weekly meetings on reading and teaching from the Bible.
We believe that what the Bible teaches about our salvation can best be summarised in what is known as Calvinism or Reformed Theology. For a fuller explanation of what we believe, please see our Beliefs page.
The final command Jesus gave His disciples before He ascended into Heaven was “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15). With this in mind, we are a very active church, looking both to strengthen ourselves in following Jesus, and reaching out to others with the good news.
Prayer is vital. We are very aware of our weakness, but we also know the power of God and His willingness to bless those who seek Him. So we have a meeting every Friday evening which we dedicate to pleading with God for His blessing on ourselves, our community, our nation and our world.
Where should I start?
If you are seeking God or exploring Christianity then the Gospel Service, held every Sunday evening at 6:00pm, would be the ideal place to learn more. Or if you’d like something more informal during the week, why not try our Coffee Mornings? If you want to go further in your study of God’s Word, we invite you to come to our Communion and Bible Teaching service on a Sunday morning, or our Bible Study on a Tuesday night. For children we have a thriving Sunday School, every Sunday at 2:15pm, whilst teenagers are warmly invited to our Teens Bible Class, Sundays at 3:15pm. For full details of our weekly schedule, please see our What’s On page.
